The morning the Tony nominations are announced, phones start buzzing with texts and calls for the happy few who get nods. As usual, Broadway.com is among the callers offering congratulations and getting responses. Here are the first reactions from 2012 Tony nominees. Congrats to all!

Nominated for Best Direction of a Musical and Best Choreography, Nice Work If You Can Get It
"Nice Work If You Can Get It has 10 nominations, which is a nice round number. You always wish it were more, but I think 10 is pretty good! This morning, my husband and I watched NY1—he’s the lead producer of Nice Work and one of the producers of Venus in Fur, so he got two nominations, too! We have twins who are almost two years old, and while we were watching, they were down the hallway. What are they doing? They climbed up on a bench and were looking at themselves in a mirror and giggling. We were trying to wrangle the children and watch the nominations at the same time. I’m so happy. [Winning Best Choreography in 2011 and 2012] would be insane…I don’t anticipate that at all. Susan Stroman, Bob Fosse and Tommy Tune all won back to back. That’s a rarified group! I’m just so thrilled for our show, especially when we got the nomination for Best New Musical—everyone in our entire company is included. I haven’t talked to anybody else yet! I dropped the kids off at their music class and then I was a guest teacher at a graduate school music performance class at NYU this morning, so I haven’t even gotten to talk to my parents! But they left me a lovely message and I’ll call them this afternoon. I’m gonna see [the cast] in a little bit because we’re performing on Letterman this week. I’m thrilled about that, because it means I get to see everybody in person and say congratulations."
